They hiss at phantoms that are currently pursuing a player. Creepers and phantoms avoid cats, even while pursuing a player, keeping a distance of 6 and 16 blocks away respectively from any cats. With the exception of a faster movement rate, kittens have the same behavior as adults. Upon successful breeding, 1–7 is dropped. 1–3 when killed by a player or tamed wolf.During a full moon, 50% of cats that spawn are black. A new cat does not spawn in a hut if there is already a cat within a 16×8×16 block volume. Bedrock Edition Ģ5% of cats spawn as kittens. In Java Edition, any other cats to spawn within the swamp hut (from spawn eggs and commands without cat type set) always spawn as black. Additional cats can spawn within the hut similarly to witches for this to happen, there must be grass blocks present inside the bounding box of the swamp hut. One untamed black cat generates alongside a witch inside swamp huts upon world generation. (This is the same volume used when a village spawns an iron golem.) If the number of cats found is short of the quota, the village tries to spawn one cat or kitten within a volume of 16 × 6 × 16 blocks centered on the village center. All cats within the village boundaries are counted, including kittens, cats that wander in from outside and even tamed cats owned by a player. Only owned beds (those currently claimed by a villager) are counted for this purpose. In Bedrock Edition, a village periodically spawns stray cats to fill a quota of 1 cat per 4 owned beds, up to a maximum of 5 cats for 20 or more owned beds. The spawning of cats in villages is a separate process from the natural spawning of passive mobs and thus is not affected by the Creature mob cap. A village cat spawns with a random appearance, although black cats may spawn only during a full moon which works on both Java and Bedrock. Cats that spawn with the creation of a village do not despawn, however, any additional cats that spawn within a village may despawn. Untamed cats spawn in villages as long as there are at least five claimed beds within 48 blocks and at most four cats within a 97×17×97 box centered around the spawn position. A cat can spawn if that block is less than 2 chunks from a village with fewer than 5 cats, or inside a swamp hut. A random player is selected (including spectators) and a random location is chosen 8-32 blocks away from the player horizontally in both directions and at the same height. ![]() Cats can spawn every 1200 ticks (1 minute).

![]() ![]() Malik Ameer, an American rapper, poet, and literary editor based in France, guests on two tracks the woozy, tongue-in-cheek strut of “My Little Pony” and the atmospheric, tabla-tapped “God on Opiates”. “I’m a big fan and have been meaning to link with him through Busdriver, but my little corner of life was so consuming, I never got to it. “Remi got at Open Mike Eagle, and I’m very grateful for that,” Ladd says of the featuring rapper, who makes an appearance on the spare Blaxploitation funk of “Imitations”. Other numbers invite guests of various renown. The groove is a rubbery, squelchy throb, generous and full. Rough’s London brogue, meanwhile, sidles into the number with insouciant calm. On the electrified plod of “Annual Report”, Ladd’s rap creeps assassin-like toward a dangerous center of curlicued, synthesized funk. Ladd is not unmindful of his origins his street-talk is always rooted in the culture of the turntablist MC. The Dead Can Rap’s self-titled album spans a production that integrates various electronica styles, though the beating heart of the album pumps the true blood of hip-hop. He’s really helped me to keep on the grind.” When he asked me to make a record, I’d have been a fool to say no. He’s one of those guys who are driven, successful, and remain very caring and loyal to old friends. Rem was primarily a visual artist based in graffiti but already branching out. “Remi and I met back in 1999 or 2000 in London,” Ladd recalls. His venture into music extends to his days as a member of a band called Reptiles during the ‘90s. Rough has been known primarily as a visual artist, working as a street artist in the ‘80s and then later earning space in galleries worldwide. “ came out of hip-hop, but clearly Thom Yorke has been in his rotation for years.” Ladd speaks of the album’s Kid A-like electro-noodlings, which supply the many shadings to these 13 numbers. “The production on this record was 99% Remi,” Ladd says. The Dead Can Rap by TheDeadCanRap The Dead Can Rap by TheDeadCanRap This time he indulges even further and, with producer Rough, pulls up a wealth of succulent groove, nudging the think tank of his polemic poetry onto the dancefloor. Ladd has experimented with electronic music in the past a drum ‘n’ bass tune centerpiecing Afterfuture and later blueprinting the punktronica of 2004’s Nostalgialator. It isn’t surprising, then, that the Boston-born France-based musician should try his hand at a more unalloyed version of electronica on his latest project, The Dead Can Rap, alongside producer Remi Rough. His sophomore effort, 1999’s Welcome to the Afterfuture, stands as a seminal work of leftfield hip-hop, and his subsequent projects have seen him cutting swathes through jazz and various other music from around the globe. But Ladd has worked tirelessly to reimagine the constituents of any music he’s explored. Less-discerning purists have accused the rapper/producer of working in margins that dangerously recede from a more unadulterated form of hip-hop. Such a personal vision of creative prowess hasn’t always earned Ladd a favored rank among listeners. If, for example, Aceyalone sees the Juice Crew as the grounding platform for his too-cool-for-school hip-hop, then Ladd checks them as a structure to be demolished by the force of his Kandinsky-like hand. Never one to fully forgo his hip-hop roots–the very ones that have nourished his career as a trafficker of Dada-tronic poetry–Ladd has helped to expand the perimeters of his chosen genre through a bold reconfiguring of his influences. Mike Ladd’s work over these last 25 years has extended far beyond the reaches of his home base of hip-hop. |
